This Sunday in our Burning of the Chaff ceremony we will symbolically get ride of those things in our life that prevent us from living freely in the spirit of love. Traditionally the chaff (protective covering of grain) was burned, or plowed back into the fields, to provide nutrients for the new crop. We too need to cast off old habits, even those that may have served us well, in order to grow into the person we would like to become.
