Magical Happenings for Dec. 24, 2006
from Alice Anacheka-Nasemann, Director of Religious Education
Today’s Classes:
- Today’s service is story based and children of all ages are invited to join us for many Christmas tales sure to warm your hearts and make you laugh. Any children who find it difficult to remain upstairs are welcome to go downstairs and make simple holiday crafts with our babysitters.
- Please note there is no childcare provided for our evening service. We hope people of all ages will join us for a time of singing, brief readings, and our traditional Christmas Eve candle lighting ceremony.
NEXT SUNDAY: For Dec. 31, New Year’s Eve, all children will join together for simple games and crafts.
CHILD PICK-UP: Parents, please remember to pick up your child (through 6th grade) from his or her classroom at 11:45. Alice will ring a bell to remind you to do so at the appropriate time.
COFFEE HOUR & CHILDCARE: Our babysitters will be available in the parish hall until 12:20 to play games and make simple crafts with kids for the first part of coffee hour.
FAMILY & ADULT EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES
- PLAYGROUP: Our playgroup meets on Thursday mornings from 9:30-11:30 at church. Please invite your friends!
- SECRET ELVES: The secret elves program is well underway. Cubbies are set up in the parish hall for the anonymous exchange of treats, cards and gifts. Secret elf identities will be revealed on Sunday, January 14.
- GUEST AT YOUR TABLE: There are plenty of boxes available if you would like to welcome a “guest at your table” to support the important work of the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee. Boxes will be due back at church on Sunday, January 14. For more information or for a box, see Alice during coffee hour.
- SOAP FOR SALE: Today is your last chance to support the charitable efforts of the kids in our classes and buy handmade soap, candles or fuse bead ornaments. 50% of proceeds will be donated to our church, 50% of proceeds to a local animal shelter, as determined by a vote of the children.
