Magical Happenings for January 7, 2006

TODAY‘S CLASSES:
- NURSERY: Ages 0-2. Wilhelmina with Kelly Anne
- CHALICE CHILDREN: Pre-School-Kindergarten. Adult volunteer with Chelsea. Kids will learn about churches as a place where we celebrate life milestones. Today they will talk about weddings and services of union, creating mock weddings with teddy bears.
- MAGICAL UU: Grades 1-6. Jennifer, Barbara and Jackie. Participants will learn about the third Unitarian Universalist principle, encouragement of spiritual growth with the first of three SpiritMagic classes. They will learn simple yoga movements and experience guided meditation.
- WORLD RELIGIONS: Grades 7-9. Alice Anacheka-Nasemann. Our jr. youth will learn about some of the differences between Catholicism and Protestantism, as well as some of the Protestant sects. They will also begin preparations for visits to neighboring churches.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
- CHILD PICK-UP: Parents, please remember to pick up your child (through 6th grade) from his or her classroom at 11:45. Alice will ring a bell to remind you to do so at the appropriate time.
- COFFEE HOUR & CHILDCARE: Our babysitters will be available in the parish hall until 12:20 to play games and make simple crafts with kids for the first part of coffee hour.
FAMILY & ADULT EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES
- PLAYGROUP: Our playgroup meets on Thursday mornings from 9:30-11:30 at church. Please invite your friends!
- SECRET ELVES: The secret elves program is well underway. Cubbies are set up in the parish hall for the anonymous exchange of treats, cards and gifts. Secret elf identities will be revealed on Sunday, January 14.
- GUEST AT YOUR TABLE: Boxes will be due back at church on Sunday, January 14. Any checks should be made out to the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee. For more information see Alice during coffee hour.
- ARTICULATING YOUR UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST FAITH: Starting on Tuesdays in February David Johnson and Alice Anacheka-Nasemann will co-lead a 5-session adult religious education class designed to help you better articulate your personal beliefs, as well as better describe Unitarian Universalism in general. Sign up downstairs in the parish hall.
