Of Myth and Legend
March 30th - Feast of Eostara. Eostara, the German goddess of rebirth, invented nature regenerating and all of us along with her. Hers are the first signs of spring - the colorful Easter eggs, the hopping bunnies - all fertility symbols.
Thank you for your interest in the Unitarian Church of Marlborough and Hudson’s weekly podcast. Today’s recording was made at our service on Sunday, March 26th, 2006. This recording features Diane DeFranzo reading from the poem, “The Flower Song,” from the Oxford Book of Carols. Diane’s personal reflection, “Of Myth and Legend,” follows the reading. Our introductory music was “Mother of All,” an Irish melody by Alexander Pope and Michael G. Young. Our intermediary music was “In Time of Silver Rain,” by Langston Hughes and George Theophilus Walker. And our closing music is “Lady of the Season’s Laughter,” by Kendyl L. R. Gibbons and David Hurd. All music was performed by the UCMH choir and congregation under the direction of Marjorie Mitchell.
