2009-2010 CLASSES

NURSERY (Ages 3 and under)

Children in our nursery receive plenty of cuddling in a loving environment. Their “work” is to play, utilizing craft materials, a variety of building toys, puzzles and more.

WE ARE MANY, WE ARE ONE (Ages 3-6)
Our primary goal for children in this age range is to create a safe, loving environment in which they can begin to experience and express themselves as spiritual, social, and moral beings. Utilizing the curriculum, “We Are Many, We Are One,” children will learn about themselves in relation to their friends, their families, our church community, and the Earth.

MORAL TALES (Ages 7-9)
Using the Moral Tales and Faithful Journeys curricula, co-written by our own Rev. Alice Anacheka-Nasemann for the Unitarian Universalist Association, our 7-9 year olds will embark on a pilgrimage of faith this year. Together they will create a moral compass to guide them as they face difficult life decisions and situations. Sessions foster the use of spiritual tools such as compassion, courage, responsibility, prayer, generosity, forgiveness and conscience. With their compass in hand they will embark on a Faithful Journey, learning about historic and contemporary men, women, and children who exemplify faith in action, translating our Unitarian Universalist Principles and Purposes into concrete action in their lives.

AMAZING GRACE (Ages 10-12)
Our focus this year will be on equipping children in this age group with the skills needed to navigate their middle school years safely and ethically, supported by their faith as Unitarian Universalists. Using two curricula, Amazing Grace and Windows and Mirrors, participants will explore topics like faith, good and evil, spirituality and saving the world. For the second half of the year they will focus on social justice and concrete examples of ethics in action.

Curricula Note: For more information on the curricula we will use visit http://www.uua.org/religiouseducation/curricula/ and search “Tapestry of Faith.”

ENROLLMENT

Our religious education program takes place during our regular Sunday worship at 10:30 AM. Children and adults begin the morning together in the Santuary for the first 15 minutes of our worship service. After hearing a story for all ages, the children leave for their classes, which end at 11:45.

To sign your child up for our religious education program, current church members should fill out a registration form and mail or bring it to church by September 20, 2009. If you are new to our church, you can register your child on the first day of classes, Sunday, September 20, or any Sunday.

For more information, call our Associate Minister, the Rev. Alice Anacheka-Nasemann: 978-562-9180.
