CH-CH-CH-CHANGES:
The religious education committee and I have decided to try some new things this fall. At 11:45, when classes end, parents of all kids under age 10 will be expected to pick their kids up from their classrooms and bring them to coffee hour. Also new this year, our babysitters will stay until 12:20, helping to entertain the kids for the first part of coffee hour with simple crafts and games.
JR. YOUTH GROUP
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the kids in our Jr. High class. We have joined with the First Parish Church in Stow in a combined Jr. Youth group which will meet together on Sunday evenings on a semi-monthly basis. The mission is to have fun and socialize while also engaging in service projects and social action. We will host this group for a games night sometime this fall.
HALLOWEEN STORYTELLING
As in past years, we will offer stories during Hudson’s annual downtown Trick or Treat. Volunteers to welcome families and tell stories would be most welcome. If you can help out, please let me know! Whether or not you are available as a helper, do come enjoy the stories: Thursday, Oct. 29, 4:00-6:00 p.m. in the parish hall.
ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE
Thanks to the following volunteers who helped us get the year going (without any magic wands to do the work for us!) Teachers: Alan, Wendy, Lauren, Leonor, Jen, Ted, Erica, Karen, Jennifer. Registration help & RE Committee: Tricia. Thanks to Ted for fixing the classroom divider and making our elementary classroom a safe place!
Yours in Faith,

We are currently in the process of forming a playgroup which will meet weekly at our church. Parents will have the opportunity to enjoy adult conversation and support while their young children play with one another. Although final plans were not yet made as the newsletter went to press, it looks as though we will be meeting on Thursday mornings starting mid-October. To learn more, contact Alice Anacheka-Nasemann or check our website (ucmh.org) for up-to-date information. Feel free to invite friends — this group will be publicized and open to the public.
Do your kids ask you questions about God, the universe, or the meaning of life that you find difficult to answer? Do you find yourself yearning for spiritual deepening in your family? Minister David Johnson & Religious Education Director Alice Anacheka-Nasemann are teaming up to offer an adult religious education program utilizing the “Parents as Theologians” and “Parents as Spiritual Guides” curricula published by the Unitarian Universalist Association. Sessions will cover developmental stages related to the religious growth of children, ways to nurture spirituality in your children and family, and opportunities to practice articulating your answers to the tough theological questions posed by your youngsters.
We will meet on 5 different Tuesday evenings: Oct. 10, 17, and 24th and Nov. 14 and 21. Note, we will skip Oct. 31 and Nov. 7. A simple pizza dinner will be provided at 6:30 pm and childcare will be available. Class sessions will run from 7:30-9:00.
Although these curricula were developed with Unitarian Universalists in mind, the subject matter is broad and we would welcome participants from other faith traditions. You are encouraged to invite your friends to join us!
