The public is welcome to attend the upcoming Samhain Service at the Unitarian Church of Marlborough and Hudson. In this service on Sunday, Oct. 30, at 10:30 a.m., the congregation, led by Rev. Alice Anacheka-Nasemann with members of Mooncircle Covenant Group, will honor the cycles of life and death and pay tribute to our loved ones who have died. Samhain, which translates from Old Irish as “summers end,” is a pagan festival which marks the end of the harvest season. With life falling back in preparation for the winter, the Gaels believed that the border between this world and the other world became thin on Samhain. Participants are invited to bring photographs of deceased loved ones to add to the altar of memory.
