BELLY DANCE MINISTRY ~
A Spiritual Journey of Community, Generosity, and Radical Self-Appreciation
We’re kicking off our summer services with a shimmy! Please join UCMH’s “Preaching For Parishioners” graduate Nancy Rogers (aka Aurora) as she shares her journey of spiritual growth through her experiences as a belly dance teacher and performer. This service is an illustration on the value of being Awake and Present to opportunities to engage with our best selves. Enjoy an experience bedazzled with touches of belly dance goodness!
Nancy “Aurora” Rogers has been drawn to belly dance since she was a child, becoming deeply involved in the art in 2000. Since then she has appeared onstage in Cambridge, New York, and Philadelphia; performed and taught for fundraisers and community-building events; produced, directed, and provided on-air talent for Hudson Cable’s TV show “Bellybration! Body Celebration through Belly Dance!”; workshopped Nat’l Organization for Women’s (NOW) Love Your Body campaign; facilitated Mothers’ and Girls’ belly dance nights out; taught “chair” belly dance; co-founded two dance troupes as well as the annual fundraiser “Bellies for Hope.” As a teacher, she focuses on empowering dancers with the building blocks of belly dance that they might express their own dance voices. When not onstage, she thoroughly enjoys her full-time work in apparel surface design, and finds her bliss when engaging in any number of artistic projects, spending time with her hubby and four adorable ginger cats, drumming, and planning the next Red Tent event.
Please join us after the service for coffee, tea, refreshments, and fellowship in our Worship Cafe ~ everyone is welcome at UCMH!
