Sessions is a hybrid Open Mic, Songwriters Round Table, Invitational JAM. We welcome your Music, Spoken Word and other Art Performances. We also often feature a special musical guest artist at each event.

This November, UCMH welcomes Allysen Callery, a self-taught singer songwriter from Bristol, RI, whose delicate, mesmerizing sound has been compared to classic British folk artists like Sandy Denny and Nick Drake. Billed in Europe as “ghost folk,” her haunting vocals and intricate finger-style guitar work is timeless and enchanting.

She received Best Female Vocalist (Americana) from the Motif Music Awards in 2019.

“Allysen Callery is bringing back to life the delicate and soul-stirring sounds of the folk revival that swept through the UK in the ‘60s and ‘70s. In fact, her lilting voice and heartfelt lyrics are eerily close to the work of the late British songstress Sandy Denny, the highest compliment I could hand down to this brilliant artist. Sessions are held in the subterranean Union Hall and have access (as available) to a Yamaha grand piano in the Main Sanctuary, a 70’s Slingerland kit, and bass amplification for the “Power Trio” for high-quality sound reinforcement. A/V recording (you supply 4 or 8 gig SD card) is available.
