Living Love through the Practice of STORY

10:30-11:30 a.m.

Oh, the power of The Story! Who of us hasn’t felt controlled by a story? Stuck in a story? Hopeless about the way our story will end up? Hopeful because we rewrote that Same Old Story and reinvented ourselves? Simply put, our stories often write us as much as we write them.

That power plays out on a social level as well. Just think about our cultural struggles with injustice at all levels. Minimizing the stories around these injustices creates cultural narratives aimed at undermining action, and worse, to undermine our belief that things can change.

The ability to tell a new story has been at the center of our faith from the beginning. We rarely think of our UU history this way, but one of the beliefs that gave birth to our religion was the belief that human beings are authors of their stories.

Please join us as we explore the Stories in our lives and their intersection with our individual and collective journeys of Love.

Youth ages 13-18 are encouraged to participate in our Circle. Children will be meeting in Union Hall. For children up to age 6: Nursery Care is available.

COVID Safety: Masks are optional. Please, if you’re not feeling well, do stay home! Many thanks for your kind consideration.

Facilitated by Nan Rogers:

“I now see how owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we will ever do.”
