Learning from the Three Sisters
With Rev. Bruce Taylor
This Sunday, at the cusp of harvest time, we will welcome Cotter and Vivian McAvoy into the heart of this faith community. Then we will reflect on the Indigenous teaching of three sisters – corn, beans and squash – and their life-giving example of community.
“Sweetgrass is best planted not by seed, but by putting roots directly in the ground. Thus the plant is passed from hand to earth to hand across years and generations. Its favored habitat is sunny, well-watered meadows. It thrives along disturbed edges.”
