Saturday, 1/20 ~ English Dancing!

Pride and Prejudice

JOIN US FOR ENGLISH DANCING!
SATURDAY, JANUARY 21, 7-8PM
SUITABLE FOR ALL LEVELS ~ EVERYONE IS WELCOME!

English dancing is a wonderful form of social dancing, originally created in the 17th century in the British Isles. You may have noticed English dancing in movies such as Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice or Sense and Sensibility.

As a social form of dance, there is lots of interaction between dancers so it’s a great way to share a fun and interesting activity with both new and old friends.

The challenge in the dance is not the footwork, but in the intricate figures that dancers move through. Most dances require simply walking, so physically, almost anyone can do it!

Each dance has its own beautiful, unique tune, and is commonly played by instruments such as violin, piano, and flute. In this class, we will learn some simple, yet interesting and elegant English dances.

Come join us for an hour of dancing on any of the Saturday evenings below. Two new dances will be taught each week, so if you miss one, you will do just fine.

No partner necessary. This class is designed for beginners. Wear comfortable, soft-soled shoes, preferably not slip-on style. All are welcome!
