The Red Tent movement is inspired by Anita Diamant’s fictional story, The Red Tent, and supports women in reclaiming the gifts of community as we gather together to co-create safe, woman-centered, restorative, inclusive community. Here in Hudson, MA, we have created and facilitated such a space for over 9 years!
And we are continuing this work online, during the coronavirus crisis, by creating that same Safe Space in which we enter times of sharing around a theme inspired by our Red Tent sisters. This week’s theme is “Commitment.“
Commitment: the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc. It’s also defined as an engagement or obligation that restricts freedom of action. Throughout our lives, we run into many opportunities to make commitments of all kinds: we make commitments to partners, children, friends and communities; to our careers, financial situations, artistic decisions, faith traditions, social and environmental justice; to our personal wellness. Breaking a commitment can be devastating… or a big relief! Sometimes committing to something requires a great deal of research and planning; and sometimes, it’s a simple leap of good faith. We encounter opportunities to make and break commitments every single day; commitment is a big deal, we must choose wisely, especially when our level of commitment affects others. And by choice or by obligation, commitments are the backbone of building trust, establishing roots, enabling growth, and putting into the world that Third Thing that’s bigger than we are individually. Won’t you commit two hours of your day to joining us inside the Women’s WEB Tent as we share our journeys of Commitment! You are invited!
