The Values of the Newport Folk Festival
The Newport Folk Festival’s unofficial motto is “Be Present. Be Kind. Be Open. Be Together”. These are words we live by for a weekend while enjoying incredible music in beautiful Fort Adams, RI and words we should carry with us the rest of the year. Please join Preaching for Parishioners graduate Caitlin Eaton-Robb as she guides us in reflecting how a place can represent these values, but it is the folk who live them who make them real.
We are pleased to welcome one and all in our beautiful, historic sanctuary. We are now mask-optional, with a “mask-only” zone in the rearmost pews for those who prefer or need to be extra cautious. Please review our updated Covid-19 policies below.
Caitlin Eaton-Robb is a Preaching for Parishioners graduate and a lifelong UU. She now lives in Clinton with her dog Scribbles.
Masks are optional in the sanctuary and Union Hall. But for those who are most comfortable still wearing a mask, we will have a masks-only area toward the back of the church, for maximum safety for all involved. We are going to sing without masks, and we will have ‘regular’ coffee hours again. (That is, coffee/tea/etc. and snacks.) But we are continuing to watch the numbers here in Middlesex County, of course, and if they hit the ‘high’ mark again we will have no option but to make masks mandatory for all. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen for many reasons! (We will continue to try to livestream our services if possible, but that depends on whether we have volunteer power to make it happen.)
