Our theme for November: The Gift of Generosity.
Generosity doesn’t just brighten our days; it changes how we relate to life. Sometimes we experience times of apathy and difficulty, and then suddenly, small or sentimental gifts come our way: the neighbor shovels our part of the driveway while she does hers, or maybe the nurse takes a half hour to sit with us while we wait for the results. It wasn’t her job, and she doesn’t have the time, but she did it anyway. In those simple moments, the world suddenly feels less cold. And we are transformed just a little. Generosity also connects: when our vulnerability meets another’s vulnerability, we both feel seen. And less alone. And generosity also challenges, asking us to call out when we witness a wrong, undermining our comfortable views and inviting justice in. It doesn’t just ask us to be kind to others, it also asks us to question why some have so much more, in many ways, than others. The invitation this month is not just to be more generous, but to notice how generosity is bigger than we think.
Youth ages 13-18 are encouraged to participate in our Circle. For children up to age 6: Nursery Care is available. For children ages 7-12: be sure to check out the agenda for RE this day to find out more about time and location. Children will be meeting in Union Hall.
COVID Safety: Masks are optional. Please, if you’re not feeling well, do stay home! Many thanks for your kind consideration!
Note: Because of the special, interactive nature of the Sharing Circle Format, this week’s worship will be IN PERSON ONLY.
“Everyone can experience the joy and blessing of generosity; because everyone has something to give.”
