Meeting Howard Thurman
With Rev. Bruce Taylor
Born in the segregated South, Howard Thurman imagined God as the power of love dwelling at the heart of life. In living out this vision, he served as a spiritual mentor to generations of social reformers, including the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Today’s service will introduce you to this inspiring teacher, preacher, mystic, and friend to humanity.
All are welcome to join us following the service for conversation and light refreshments in Union Hall.
“There is in every person an inward sea, and in that sea there is an island, and on that island there is an altar, and standing guard before that altar is the angel with the flaming sword. Nothing can get by that angel to be placed upon that altar unless it has the mark of your inner authority.”
