Turning to Wholeness and Liberation in Due Season
With Lay Preacher Phyllis C.
Turning toward wholeness and liberation in due season comes in many forms across faith traditions. Fasting has long been a spiritual practice across traditions in helping people to reconnect with a spiritual center in times of turning and which some find meaningful. What about those for whom fasting has not been a regular practice, or any meaningful practice at all in the context of their lives? Are these at a loss in connecting more deeply with a center that transforms lives?
Boycotting has had tremendous impact in certain times and contexts in bringing about meaningful social change. When done with intention and in solidarity with others, boycotting not only has the power to transform unjust systems, but also brings people together in new ways in the movement that results in not only social change, but also the personal change that comes when societies and contexts change and evolve.
Might boycotting be the kind of fasting that the rest of us need?
You decide.
All are welcome to join us following the service for conversation and light refreshments in Union Hall.
