Yes, And / Yes, But

With Rev. Bev Waring

“Yes, and” and “Yes, but” are two seemingly similar but very different responses to change. Change, even positive change, can be hard and scary. Moving to a new town for a better paying job, going away to college or selling beloved property to start a new and exciting chapter in your life, are all good changes but yet many will resist the positive feelings and instead focus on the negative. Join us Sunday as we look at the “yes, and” and “yes, but” responses to change.

Following the service, Rev. Waring has kindly agreed to facilitate a discussion among UCMH members and staff members about the challenges faced this church year. It’s been a difficult time, for many reasons, and members who would like to share their feelings — and hopes and goals going forward — are most welcome to do so. We’ll hold this discussion in the Alice Hart Room at noon, after a shortened coffee-hour time.

Picture for UCMHRev. Bev Waring is an Accredited Interim Minister (AIM) currently finishing her ministry at the First Universalist Society in Franklin, MA. She has served as an interim minister in seven congregations in Massachusetts and NY State. She and her spouse, Donna, attended UCMH in the early 1980s, well before Bev went to divinity school at Andover Newton Theological School. She has preached here a few times over the years and is honored to be invited back at this time in UCMH’s history.
